Hot bats not enough, Field Falcons 9U succumbs to the Lake Erie Bulldogs, 17-10

Four hits weren't enough for Field Falcons 9U as it lost a shootout, 17-10 in six innings, to the Lake Erie Bulldogs on Tuesday at Aster Sports Academy.

 

Field Falcons 9U's Mason Long was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the first and third innings.

 

Andrew Karhoff recorded the win for the Lake Erie Bulldogs. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered one hit.

The Lake Erie Bulldogs easily handled Field Falcons 9U pitching as nine hitters combined for eight hits, five RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Jacob Kucalaba ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 10 runs in 1 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out one.

The top of the first saw Field Falcons 9U take an early lead, 1-0. Field Falcons 9U's rally started when Mason singled. A stolen base then moved Mason from first to second.

The Lake Erie Bulldogs didn't relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the first inning when they scored on a groundout by Zachary Zimmerman and an RBI single by Bullock.

One run in the top of the second helped Field Falcons 9U close its deficit to 3-2. A wild pitch sparked Field Falcons 9U's rally. Finally, Zachary Z got Jacob to strike out to end the threat.

After a quick strike from Field Falcons 9U, the Lake Erie Bulldogs responded with seven runs in the second. The Lake Erie Bulldogs scored on an RBI single by Hayden Voth, an RBI single by Aaron Jankowski, a wild pitch, an error, an RBI double by Zachary Z, and a two-run double by Brady Parks.

After pushing across six runs in the top of the third, Field Falcons 9U faced just a 10-8 deficit. A two-run error, a wild pitch, a groundout by Mitchell Long, a hit by pitch, and an RBI single by Mason triggered Field Falcons 9U's comeback.

The Lake Erie Bulldogs pushed across two runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, the Lake Erie Bulldogs scored on a walk by Cooper Jones, scoring Ryan Burns.

One run in the top of the fourth helped Field Falcons 9U close its deficit to 12-9. An RBI single by Carter Little set off Field Falcons 9U rally. The Field Falcons 9U threat came to an end when Hayden finally got L.J. Riley to ground out.

The Lake Erie Bulldogs quickly matched Field Falcons 9U's strong inning with a two-run inning of their own in the fourth. The Lake Erie Bulldogs scored on a sacrifice fly by Bullock and an error.

After pushing across one run in the top of the sixth, Field Falcons 9U faced just a 17-10 deficit. A wild pitch fueled Field Falcons 9U's comeback. Finally, Bullock got Jacob to ground out to end the game.
